Jordan Pawlick Owners, Prairieland Motorsports II Shane Therres |
|
|
Jordan and Shane are the owners of Prairieland Motorsports II. They are not new to the drag strip, but are new in their approach to the sport. They are young and enthusiastic, and ready for the season ahead. They have spent a number of years working together at the track, with Shane having grown up around the race track. Shane has worked on this car since its inception and knows it inside and out. Jordan has been working on this car for five years already and has been working on the engine extensively throughout. The car now has Edmonton as its home where it is closer to the drag strips it spends a lot of time at. Here's a little information about the two strip nuts that race the car. Shane Therres (owner/crew chief) Shane Therres, the son of Kevin Therres, was raised in Humboldt. He has been surrounded by racing all his life. His career started off with soap box cars, moved up to go carts, then dirt bikes. Snowmobile racing became Shane's favorite pastime for a number of years, and a very successful pastime it was.. At the age of fourteen he started racing Pro Stock 440, 500, 600, and 700 classes. From Pro Stock he moved up to Open Mod. class.Weekends in the summer were always spent at the track. When he was just a little guy he could be found cleaning the car, refuelling, checking tire pressure, and a lot of time being the team go-fer. As he got older the jobs got tougher and more important. In his late teens Shane took on the responsibilities of crew chief for the sled team and managed the team as well. As his responsibility for the engines grew so did his knowledge. In 2006 Shane took on the role of crew chief of his dad's race team. This was a great year as he was able to take the Top Alcohol Funny Car to a national event in a qualifying effort. He had a great race in Medicine Hat as well, where the car took second place at the Alcohol Shootout. At twenty five years of age Shane is one of the youngest car owners on the circuit for this class of car. Shane is very excited about the 2008 race year and is eager to put his years of experience to work. Away from the track, Shane is a fourth year apprentice electrician looking forward to journeyman status shortly. Shane is in charge of the technical controls and settings on the PMII car. He is responsible for adjustments on the engine compensating for changes in altitude, humidity, and temperature. Stop by our spot in the pits and watch him work.
Jordan (Goof) Pawlick (owner/driver) Jordan Pawlick the new co owner of Prairieland Motorsports II, spent the past four years working with Prairieland Motorsports. He is originally from Thorsby, Alberta where he grew up on his parents' dairy and grain farming operation. After school he started working for a trucking company in the oilfield business. He spent four years working with that company, then felt the need for change and moved on to the service side of the oil business. He joined the team at Phoenix Rentals and continues working there today. Jordan started with Prairieland Motorsports in 2003. Like most new crew members he started out doing general maintenance on the race car. His duties got more in depth as his knowledge of the car increased. He took on engine specialist two years ago, taking care of all areas of the engine. Race day duties see Jordan responsible for breakdown and reassembly of the engine between passes. Careful attention to detail are of utmost importance during race day while time is the enemy that pushes back and creates some anxious times. He now adds team owner to his list of responsibilities. Hobbies that keep Jordan busy while he is not on the race track include mountain snowmobiling, building custom sleds especially for mountain driving, quadding, and farming which he quite passionate about. Of course drag racing is pretty much top of the list and he has the enthusiasm to prove it. Jordan made a number of licensing passes this summer and now considers himself totally hooked. In his words, "you can't describe the feeling, you have to experience it". Jordan will be behind the wheel of the PMII car this season. Come out and cheer him on.

Gwen. They raised their family of three boys in Humboldt with
sports taking up all their spare time. Family is huge in this

Kevin and Gwen's lives. They now have five granddaughters, and two
grandsons. These kids are the apple of grandma and grandpa's eyes.

Kevin will be a stabilizing factor when the heat is on. We are glad to have him with us. Oh ya, someone had to bring the average age of the team up out of the twenties!!
